abacus

Abacus West offers innovative abacus-based learning programs for children aged 5 to 12. We use an ancient calculating tool and combine it with modern teaching techniques to deliver this unique program. Through our programs, students first learn to manipulate the beads of a Japanese abacus (Soroban) with their hands to perform math calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). Students are taught how to visualize a “mental abacus”, enabling them to perform math calculations in their minds (Anzan) without the assistance of a physical abacus. www.abacuswest.com

Teresa Fair-Field, OTR/L will be providing occupational therapy services on-site and in the community for children and young adults, ages 3-21. Children seen for OT may have a diagnosis such as SPD, TBI, ADHD, or Autism, or undiagnosed mtor or cognitive skills, attention, and sensory processing differences which may be causing breakdowns at school, home, and the community.  Occupational therapy works to address those activities that occupy our time: meeting basic needs, playing, learning, working, moving, managing our time, money, transportation, even our bodies–in other words, everyday living.
