About Founder, Sharman Ghio

Sharman Ghio, Founder and Managing Director of  Orange Blossom Society created the concept for OBS based on her life's experiences as a mother, dancer and marketer in the high-tech industry. After living in New York City and Los Angeles she was excited to return to the Pacific Northwest in 2008, where she had been born and raised.

A working mother of two children herself, Sharman understands the pressures that parents face including finding work-life solutions, meeting the creative and developmental needs of their children and finding activities that don’t suck up time and resources but that complement and enrich family life.  She is passionate that all children deserve creative outlets to explore their world and discover who they are in the process.

Prior to founding the Orange Blossom Society in 2009, Ghio worked for more than 13 years doing marketing and communications in the technology field including working on such projects as the Windows 95 Launch for Microsoft and the Intel Developer Forum. Ghio was living and working in New York City on September 11, 2001 and was pregnant with her first child when she decided to return to the West Coast.  Settling in the Los Angeles area Ghio developed a dance program in the South Bay with three locations serving over 500 families. Passionate about serving the needs of parents in Seattle’s Eastside, Sharman knows the decisions parents face, the dreams they have for themselves and their children and how something as simple as having a place to go that’s creative, fun, enriching and safe can fill a gigantic hole in the lives of families.  Her hope is that the Orange Blossom Society can be that place for every family it serves.
